Laverna "Verna" Katie Dollimore, OC (1922 – 2011), was one of six Canadians awarded the Order of Canada for her participation in the Canadian Caper, in which the Canadian government and the CIA orchestrated the cover rescue of six American diplomats in Iran (1979). Her Order of Canada Medal is on display at the Maritime Command Museum.
Most likely from a Proto-Indo-European root meaning "profit, gain" or "benefit, prize", which would make it cognate with Latin 'lucrum', meaning "profit, advantage; avarice".
In Barbie in Mermaidia and Barbie in Fairytopia, Laverna was the evil fairy (the sister of the enchantress) and she tried to poison the enchantress and fairies so she can rule.
