Leonore is a character in Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio. She disguises herself as a prison guard named Fidelio to rescue her husband, Florestan, from death in a political prison.

I think the story line of the opera is cool, and Leonore's name is pretty.

I absolutly love this name. I plan on naming a daughter of mine "Leonore" some day. I fell in love with this name the first time I read the raven, but decided that I prefer "Leonore" to the poem's version, "Lenore". This is probably because Bill Dotrieve's trashy ex-wife is "Lenore" on the cartoon "King of the Hill".
