Meaning: The name Madita was coined by Anna-Liese Kornitzky, the German translator of Astrid Lindgren's book series Madicken. In the Swedish original version Madicken is used as a diminutive of Margareta, so it could be argued that German Madita was created as a diminutive of Margareta as well. It's not common but it made the top 100 at one point. It's definitely being used in Germany on a regular basis. [noted -ed]
