I think Matthew is a strong, solid name. I like its length, classiness, and beautiful meaning. I also think it ages flawlessly, as it has truly withstood the test of time. Overall, I think Matthew is a good name.

It's not a bad name. But all the guys I know named Matthew have been arrogant and mean. One of them actually bullied me when I was in school. I've never met a Matthew who was nice or humble. I must be hanging out in the wrong circles.

The overall impression is like the boy with glasses next door. And he's a bit quirky, But knows a lot. It sound feels friendly and comfortable.

It’s crazy how this name has been so popular for so many years- and yet it does not sound overused. I think it will be a timeless name for many more decades (centuries?) to come. Unfortunately I know a couple too many Matthews for it to be on my list.

This name is one of my favourite male names. I don't like the nickname Matt though. I would much rather use Math if I even used a nickname for someone with this name.

You see, my sister was watching The Chosen and noticed that their depiction of Matthew came across as someone we today would characterize as on the autism spectrum. For point of reference, we are both on the spectrum ourselves. I haven't watched The Chosen yet myself. But this is definitely making me want to watch it.

This is such a FIRE name. It's so awesome but DON'T use the nickname Matt. Matthew is SO much better! It used to be a pretty common name around 2000-2015, but now you really don't see it much any more. Good boy name 9/10.

My brother is a Matthew “Matt” born in the early 80s. My mom was so disappointed when she found out how popular it was, she later gave me a weird name and misspelled it, just to be sure. I probably still bump into one a week at least, mostly born in the 1980s-2000s. Very occasionally spelled Mathew, but still the same. Only about 2-3 that I’ve ever met didn’t go by “Matt” - the only “Mat” I know is from phonics books plus one “Mattie” in a movie. One of those “Matthew-not-Matt’s, a little boy at the time, is probably the first person to make me like the name. The rest weren’t “all selfish jerks” or anything, just not encouraging. Up until then, I thought Matthew was too much of a mouthful.

My favorite boy's name. It works on babies, and old men, and I love that. It's a timeless classic, and I just love the sound. I think you should use Matthew as its full form, and not shorten it to Matt. A mat is a rug people step on, and Matt just sounds tacky in my opinion. While Matthew is just amazing. When I hear Matthew, I think of a well-done steak with barbecue sauce on it. (I'm weird, okay) I love that it's biblical. It's also my favorite book of the bible. If you want to start reading the bible, I suggest you start with the book Matthew.

I have always been very proud of my name Matthew, especially since I was named when it wasn’t so common. Having lived/traveled in more than 53 countries so far no matter where I have been people have commented on how nice my name sounds ~ especially in Latin America. Guys prefer Matt while women ~ Matthew. One time aboard a luxury cruise & upon meeting a few friendly lovely Italian women ~ one blurted out “Matthew ~ what a beautiful name!” ~ much to the suspicious ear of my sweetheart! LOL.

I love Matthew and the nickname Matt, especially because of a character in my novel. I don't know why, but I've had negative experiences with guys called Matthew/Matt, in real life and on Facebook.
