This name was very common in my family's history, and I never liked it. It's sounds very harsh and unrefined. Not to mention that it became a derogatory term against black people, so it overall has a negative and outdated connotation. There's probably a reason males in my family started shortening the "Rastus" in their names to just "R"
Not as attractive to me as Erastus, and neither of them are as attractive as Erasmus. It was in fact used as a stereotypical black name previously, but at this point, the average person is unlikely to know anything about that.
Oh, please. This is a name that white people after Reconstruction used to stereotype black people. It was like the Jamal of its day, despite the fact that very few black people were actually named this.
