I really hate this name. Actually my name is Sheldon and I’m a girl in middle school. I REALLY REALLY HATE IT on the first days of school the teachers expect a boy it’s soooo embarrassing. It makes me feel ugly dorky and stupid. Some people say they think it’s unique. Don’t ever tell me that, makes me feel worse and reading these posts/comments on my name makes me feel invisible like I want to get swallowed in a hole and die. Some people at school always say hey! Your name is named after Sheldon Cooper or whatever his name is. I feel like a boy, I actually hate when this topic comes up because it makes me want to kill myself.

I really don't like this name. Sheldon Plankton from Spongebob is annoying too. (Spongebob was one of my least favorite shows when I was younger because it was so obnoxious and annoying.) Just listen to it, Shell. Don. (pronounced like done)

I'm a girl and my name is Sheldon. I've never met any other women with my name. I feel unique having a masculine name as a female. I have a feminine middle name though. My name is Sheldon Alexandra. My middle name is girly and trendy but my first name is the total opposite! I don't think I'll ever go by my middle name. I like my first name. It helps me stand out to all the Emmas, Sophias, and Sarahs.

I have a classmate named Sheldon, only it's spelled Sheldyn and she's a girl. While the Y does make it look more of a girl's name, it doesn't change the fact that it sounds completely masculine. Sheldon itself is rather dated if you give it to a kid today, though it is nice to use if you're writing a book or something. And the nickname Shel reminds me of Shel Silverstein, I love that guy :)

I think a girl being named Sheldon is pretty neat. I am actually a girl with this name... hence my handle. It was always fun to surprise people when they expect a boy. It is very unique and I feel my name becomes me.

Dr Sheldon Cooper is my favorite character on my favorite show, and his catchphrase "Bazinga!" is my username. The name Sheldon never would have occurred to me without popular culture, unlike other names that are popular at the moment, or I would know because they are known for being old people names. Without TBBT I probably not have ever heard of this name. I like it. It's cute without being trendy. Yippee!

I also think it's hopelessly youthful, but in cute, good way, while also having opportunity to be mature. It's youthful and cute WITHOUT being overly modern (or modern at all, haha) or making the parents look like absolute fools. I love it.

Haha I love this name for two reasons: 1. Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory; 2. It reminds me of turtles, and I love turtles. Sheldon is way better than Jayden, Deshawn etc. (there aren't as many kre8tiv names for boys so they're the only examples I can present at the moment). I think if I get a male turtle I'll name him Sheldon Cooper Franklin (Franklin is a cartoon turtle).

I grew up with a girl Sheldon, never knew a boy named this, I didn't even know it was a boys name for a long time and in TV shows when everyone laughed at the nerdy cartoon for his name I thought it was because he had a girl name. Sheldon never had a problem with her name but sometimes went by Shelly as a nickname.

It seems like in every single cartoon, the nerdy character's name is Sheldon. I think a kid with this name would be teased, seeing its association is with nerdiness.

I think this once-popular boy's name, peaking in the 1930s (262nd position in the American top 1,000), has definitely had its day. However, it wouldn't, once in a while, harm a little girl to have this name. It'd be better than having a boy named Sue (as in the 1968 song 'A Boy Named Sue' by Johnny Cash).
