Meaning & History
This is the Old High German, Old Saxon and Old Norse word for "sun" (compare Sunniva). Sunna was the Germanic goddess who personified the sun.In Scandinavia it has also been used as a short form of Susanna. Use of the name in Iceland has been influenced by a character (Sunna Angelíka) from Margit Sandemo's Ísfólkið series of books, first published in 1982.
