Very dated!
My name is Evangelia. I was born in 1999 in the US. It's more common in Greece, and most people in the US get the first pronunciation wrong, but I love my name. The meaning comes from the word "evangelism" as in the Christian gospel. It's very unique, and I get a lot of compliments on how cool it sounds!
Very, very pretty, although I prefer Evangeline.
The name Evangelia is also in use in the Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America, especially Puerto Rico (at least in the past). There, it is the feminine form of the masculine name Evangelio, which is derived from the Spanish word 'evangelio' meaning "(the) Gospel". Also see the entry for Evangelio in the Submitted Names Database.Lastly, it should be noted that in some cases (e.g. with Bulgarian bearers), the name Evangelia is a variant transcription of Евангелия (Evangeliya).More information:- https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evangelo_(nome)#Varianti (in Italian)
