i read here that masclin name VID is slavic version of latin name vitus.
that is not true.
the name originate from sanskrit word VEDA which means knowlege. slavic languages are in the indoeuropean group, all rooted from sanskrit.
word VID means (in serbian, bosnian, croatian, don't know for other slavic languages) literaly the eye sight. there is a slavic god SVETOVID (the one who seas, knows the world).
