Sound-wise (neh-VAY-uh) it's pretty. But there is far more than sound in a name - some have definite connotations of socio-economic level, era, religious beliefs ... Nevaeh has all of those.
Firstly, I avoid all names that are tied to a class, even though I'm not class conscious in life. (I'd avoid Rupert just as much as I would Nevaeh.)
To spell a word backwards also seems to trivialise language - it's a childlike game, rather than the natural evolution of language. So as a linguist, I can't bring myself to like Nevaeh at all. I'm also irritated by the fact that "aeh" is a silly formation with no pronunciation in English. "AY-uh" is used for the nearest thing, but goodness knows what a more "correct" pronunciation should be.
Also, Nevaeh is a very sudden fad. It will no doubt become cheesy just as quickly, and date the child practically to the year. I like names that have been used steadily, not dated ones.
I hate that I can pinpoint a Nancy to the 1950s. It just makes me cringe, like legwarmers or 80s perms! And I find it no more refreshing if that date turns out to be wrong (e.g. if Nancy is actually twenty). In fact it's almost worse - like someone in a time warp LOL. OK I've gone off on a tangent ...
