[Opinions] Shannon...
I really like this name for a boy, but I would only use it as a middle name. My problem is that Shannon is actually my middle name. I wouldn't want to name my son after myself, but I really love the name. Do you think it would be okay if I used Shannon? And what do you think of these combos:
Walter Shannon
Vaughn Shannon
Findlay Shannon
Niall Shannon

I love Shannon on a boy!I like all your choices, except I prefer the spellings Finley and Neil. If I had to pick just one, today I would pick Walter Shannon.Miranda

Shannon is my first name... I somewhat prefer it for a girl, but like it on either sex. Walter Shannon is the only of those names that is really my style, and I like it very much.Shannon

I don't see a problme with it as it is unisex. If you love the name you live the name pretty simple to me.
I really like Niall Shannon and though I don't like the Findlay (Finlay or Finlayson for me, family names and all) variant it works too.

My cousin-in-law is actually named Shannon. Poor guy has the middle name Brooke though, which in my opinion is a feminine spelling.

I think it'd be fine. It wouldn't stand out looking like a vanity thing since it'd be a middle name anyway. Only your family would know, and since your mom used it she oughta know it's a unisex name :-)I like Niall Shannon! The other names are nms but Findlay Shannon sounds good to me too. - chazda

I only see the name Shannon for a girl, but since it's to be used as a middle name, and your middle name is Shannon, then I'm all for it. I don't see a problem with using it; I think you should use it, as it would be honoring you. Sorry, but I don't care for any of your first name choices, but I choose Walter Shannon.

I have a friend with the same problem...Her name is Christina and she really loves Christian (Christina is the feminine form of Christian). She doesnt want to name her son after herself, but she wants to name her son Christian. My opinion, I told her and I told you, that as a middle name, only family and friends will know the middle name (until he grows up and tells people his middle name) and if they want to think you named him after yourself, let them. Tell them you didnt, and that you just love the name, and if they dont buy it, who cares. You know why you used it, so what does it matter?

Yeah, I think your right. In the long run, I don't think many people would care. I think my mom might be insulted that I think it's a boys name, but that's her problem. Lol. Thanks!
