[Opinions] Eli vs Elijah
I know Eli can just be a nn for Elijah but I was considering that it could just be a name on its own and I was wondering what you think of that.Eli as a name?

like Eli, but love Elijah nn. Eli.

It's fine as a given name, but I much prefer it as a nn for Elliot or Elijah.

I'm debating the same thing at the moment considering both Eli and Elijah are on my list of names for baby #2. Right now, I'm leaning more towards Eli though.

I adore both, but I say Elijah. I'm all for options, and he can always go by Eli if he wants to.

ditto.

I think it works. I personally love it as a nn for Elias rather than Elijah (which I hate a little), but on its own it's all right.

I like Eli, but as far as on paper, I would prefer to see Elijah. My friend Eli, (its his given name after his grandfather) always got called Ellie on roll call for attendance. I think Eli would be a great nickname for friends and family, but Elijah stops any confusion and doesnt sound like a nickname for work/grown up events.

Yes, it can. I know a boy named Eli, just Eli, who just turned 1 a couple weeks ago. I also know a baby Eli who has the full name Eliott.

Eli can definitely stands on its own. Actually I prefer it over Elijah.

I prefer just Eli. I've never liked the sound of Elijah, but I'm a huge fan of Eli. Elias nn Eli is cool too.

i am leaning towards Eli as a name for my son, in hounour of his great grandfather Elijah, though i am weary that it could get confused with the pronounciaiton of the girls name ellie.

I used to like Elijah alot but now I prefer Elias nn Eli. But I also Eli is a name in it's own right and a most excellent one at that!

Eli could be a name on it's own if you wanted, but I would go for Elijah because he might prefer it, but if he doesn't he could go by Eli
