[Opinions] Colleen
WDYT of it? There is a 20 month old Colleen on my block and I just saw a four year old girl at the library named Colleen. I've always loved the name and grew up with two best friends named Colleen. But I'm surprised to see it on little ones-although I think it's great. So do you like it and think it's due for a comeback?

I personally could take it or leave it. However, I do know quite a few Colleens ranging in age from 3-13. I also went to school w/ three Colleens (now in their 30's) and I have two friends named Colleen (one in their 20's the other in her 30's). I don't think it was ever popular then lost popularity... I think it's been consistantly there, but never at the top of the charts.

It's a huge guilty pleasure of mine as I find it quite aesthetically pleasing, but it literally means "girl" in Gaelic. It would be equivalent to an Irish person naming their child "Girl".

I've always liked the name Colleen. I think that it will be a while before Colleen is ripe for revival since it was the most popular in the 50s and 60s in the U.S., and right now, people are much more apt to use 1900s names after their grandmothers and great grandmothers, such as Sophia and Emma. Names like Colleen, Karen, and Diane just aren't quite ripe for a major revival yet.

I like it, it's sweet, but I doubt it will ever get too trendy.

Not crazy about it, makes me think of an Irish peasant woman.

I love this name and it is due for a comeback but I don't want it to get overly popular.
