[Opinions] Mirena (last post)
What do you think? I really like it, especially as it derives from Mir (which means peace). The main problem I see is that it bsounds quite close to Marina, and has a trendy sound. I'm pronouncing it mir-RENA, and am curious as to how you would pronounce it.

I ADORE it, it's been in my faves list for ages. I actually know a woman from Croatia named Mirena.Mi ... -mi-racle
re ... soft R + r-e-d
na ... -na-rrow

I think it's quite lovely. I'd say meer-EH-nah or meer-AY-nah.

This is a form of birth control, so that kind of ruins it for me.

My first thought is mi-ray-na or mee-ray-na. mi-reena sounds almost identical to Marina to me and upon hearing it that's likely what I'd assume the name was. I don't care for it or Marina.

I like Mirena, but Miruna (from the same root) has been one of my favourites for quite a while. I'd pronounce it as either mi-REE-na or mi-RAY-na.

If I saw it, I'd assume it was pronounced meer-AY-nuh. Sort of like Lorena, you know? I like that pronunciation (and I dig the name on the whole--I like how it looks a lot), but mir-RENA, if I'm understanding how you're saying it, doesn't do anything for me.Array

I'd say mih-REE-nah or meer-EE-nah, but it's very similar to Marina so there would likely be some confusion. :-/

Thanks. For some reason, Marina and Mirena have two different feelings to me. Marina is hard, while Mirena is softer, prettier. *shurgs* Oh well.

I'd probably say it just like Marina, and if nobody had told me, would assume it was a kre8yv form of Marina, or else an ethnic name.I think Marina is much prettier, and she might have a mn meaning peace.
