Which name do you prefer? I'm torn...I think I like Kira better, but I just don't know.

I prefer Kira, but only if it's spelled correctly (it should be Ciara).

I like Kira (or Ciara) pronounced KEER-ah. I don't care for Kyra at all, any way it's pronounced.

I prefer Kira. (I actually prefer this name spelled Ciara, but Kira is nice, too.)

Prefer Kira. I'd pronounce them differently, though with Kira sounding like: keer-rah, and Kyra sounding like: kigh-rah.

I prefer Kira, Kyra is nice as well, but I prefer KEE-ra.I also like the similar name Keira.

I prefer Kira. Although, Kyra is less likely to be mispronounced... It'll almost always be "Kyra", while Kira will probably be called both "Kyra" and "Kira".

I like Kyra (KAI-ra) better. But I'm usually the minority in that. ;) I also love Tyra, if that has to do with anything.

Kyra -- "KIE-ra" -- from Cyrus (Greek)Kira -- "KEER-a" -- from Kiril / Cyril (Russian / Slavic)Ciara -- "KEER-a" -- from Ciaran (Irish)Kiera -- "KEER-a" -- from Kieran / Ciaran (Irish, Anglicized)
I like them all. But my favorite is Ciara.

I like Kira better. It's a lovely Russian name.Kyra is harder to say, IMO.

I meant....which pronunciation do you like better: KYE-ra (Kyra) or KEE-ra (Kira)

Definitely Kira! It just so happens to be one of my favorite names. Kyra is pretty too though.

Well, they are two different names that are supposed to be pronounced differently. I like Kira better.

I know....but I realized that I wasn't clear in my OP. I think I made it sound like I thought they were both pronounced the same. Sorry for the confusion =)

Oh! In that case, Kira.

It would depend on how you are pronouncing them. I would say Kyra like k-EYE-ra and Kira like k-EAR-a. I like Kira better, but I don't love either name.

Definitely Kira. Kyra pro. KYE-ruh would be nice but I don't like it pro. KIR-uh, the 'y' just makes it confusing to me, it doesn't look like it should pro. the same as Kira.Heres how I'd rank the names plus a few I added:
Kira
Keira
Kyla
Kyra pro. KYE-ruh
Kyra pro. KIR-uhLet me add I don't like spellings such as Ciara because it could be confused with Sierra.

both...?Out of those two I think Kira sounds better. I like that spelling better than Keira, and possibly better than Ciara too.I prefer Cyra to Kyra, since they're pretty much the same name. Cyra sounds nicer to me.

It depends on how you want to pronounce it. If you're going for KEER-a, then Kira is the spelling. If you want KAI-ra (vowel sound as in Kyle), then Kyra is the spelling. IMHO.

Ditto.Unless you're Kyra Sedgewick, you can't get away with Kyra-like-Kira.And I, for the record, far prefer Kira, though I like Kiri and Kirsa even more.Array
