[Opinions] Elia
I got this name from George R R Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Its for a girl, pr. el-EE-ah. I'm really in love with it. According to BtN, it is also an Italian male name. As I am in the US, I doubt that would be a problem. So, wdyt of Elia?

I like it but only for a boy and I prefer the spelling Eliah.
But Elia could work as a girls name too. I tihnk Elia is much better on a girl than Jamie and Riley are ;)

Since I'm Italian, I can't see much beyond it than the Italian version of Elijah (incidentally, it's not common at all). However, it depends on how you prounounce it. The Italian version is pronounced Eh-lEE-ah, possilby pronounced EH-lee-ah with the stress on the first syllable it would look more feminine and nice enough.

I love it but only as an Italian male name. I can't really see it for girls.

I know Elia as being the Italian version of ELijah, so it seems completely masculine to me. It's NMS on either gender though. It just seems very boring--Nice enough sounding, but no character.

It's all male to me. It's like naming your daughter Jonah or Ezra --they have a feminine sound but they are not girl names.

Like it a lot. Also for a girl, since it sounds more girly in my ears. Also as I'm not in Italy, I have the same reason as you.But it makes me think of this:

(Lies right outside of my city and having seen this huge strange creation myself, I think it's fantastic.)

I really like it for a boy, but I'm all about the using a name however you want to... and I could easily see it working on a girl. :-)

I just saw that name in there the other day! I just finished rereading the first one and am about 100 pages into the second, lol. I think it's nice, and as very few people in the US are going to realize that it's a male Italian name, I think it would be usable here.
