[Opinions] Petra?
OK two questions. First, what do you think of Petra? And second, how do you personally pronounce it?Thanks.

I dislike it as it reminds me of petri dishes, and also petrified. I say PEH-tra.

I think it's alright.I know a Petra who pronounces it PAY-tra, which I think is prettier than PEH-tra (assuming that PEH-tra and PET-ra are the same...) Her name does get mispronounced a lot though.

I LOVE this name! I have only met one Petra in my life so it's not too common, at least not where I come from. I would pronounce it PET-Ruh

It took me a bit to get over the Petra/Petrified/Petrol associations but after I did I am beginning to like the name. I don't think I would personally use it for a child, but I like seeing it on other children.

PEH-traI think it is very sweet. I love it, and yet the "petrified" thing would probably hold me back from actually going with it.

I love Petra, it's my cousin's name. But it's very popular here, so I'd never use it.
Are there more ways to pronounce it. I thought it was 'peh-trah'.

I like it. There was a lovely brunette British actress called Petra Davis, which is how I first came across the name.

I don't mind it, it's alright. Not a name you hear all the time. I pronounce it as PEH-tra.

I say PEH-trah, and I think it's perfectly nice for someone else's kid. I prefer Petronella (nn Penny, perhaps) myself.Array

I pronounce it peh-tra. I am not overly fond of this name due to its sound and look, nor do I like the fact that it has "pet" in it, but that is, of course, all very personal. In saying that it is fresh and inoffensive.
