It may have come from the word ary that's not in use anymore. Here, I'll give you the definition:Ar·y·an ( P ) Pronunciation Key (âr-n, r-)
n.
Indo-Iranian. No longer in technical use.
A member of the people who spoke the parent language of the Indo-European languages. No longer in technical use.
A member of any people speaking an Indo-European language. No longer in technical use.
In Nazism and neo-Nazism, a non-Jewish Caucasian, especially one of Nordic type, supposed to be part of a master race.Mainly from the Nazi times, it was the blonde hair blue eyed thing Hitler was obsessed with, originally referred to a people who looked vastly different. Its history starts with the ancient Indo-Iranians. *arya- or *rya-. The first of these is the form found in Iranian, as ultimately in the name of Iran itself.I hope that helps. I looked it up just recently because one of friends has the same name, I love your name, it's so great!!

Aryaan or Aryan are quite popular names in India (our history extends far beyond the Hitler's Germany so it is not such a big deal up there). Why should we give up names we have kept for 100's or 1000's of years just because some idiot had silly notions about humanity and race and misinterpreted history and text??? I guess it's kind of like how Damien became unpopular after the Omen series!Aryan means "noble" or "son of a noble" if you take Aryaan with a double a and split it up, Arya means noble/honoured/someone of high birth depending on your interpretation and "Aan" or "ahn" means to prosper and flourish. It's not so much elitist as giving your kids something to aspire to, just like naming your son "king of the world" or "king of kings" is not unusual in Asia.If you are German or WASPy and have Jewish friends and neighbours I suggest you avoid it in case it upsets them...otherwise you will have to keep justifying it and your child may get a hard time in school. It all depends on where you live and what kind of commmunity you have around you.Rayaan is a popular alternative for Aryaan you might want to consider.

The name Aryaan is most probably related to "Aryan" a.k.a. Indoeuropean. I would think twice before naming a child Aryaan, given the malignant association with nazism. In a similar vein, the swastika is too a once beautiful ancient symbol well predating the criminal nazi state, but who in his or her right mind would get a swastika tattoo nowadays?

It's an Indian name, possibly related to the name ARYA. I'm pretty sure they have some meaning connected to the Aryan people who came and settled India many thousands of years ago, bringing with them their Indo-European languages like Sanskrit.
