i pronounce it KAHT-ya.
its almost like Catia.
I know about 3 girls named Catia and 1 named Katja.
They pronounce it about the same.

I pronounce this KAHT-ya and I really like it. I think it's sweet, spunky, and foreign-sounding at the same time.

nononononooooo this is not pronounced with a j sound. it is the German form of the Russian name Katia/Katya and is pronounced KUT-ya. This name was overused in the 70s and 80s in Germany and seems a bit dated. I do however find it pretty but I prefer Katia, it's my favorite spelling.

German and very nicknamey. In fact it is a nickname. I wouldn't use it as a full name.

yes...It is a nickname but it doesn't seem nicknameish to most people. In Germany it has been popular on its own. Nadia, Sonia, Natasha, Sasha and Ronia are nicknames as well. Only that Ronia also happens to be a Hebrew name meaning "joy of god", a full name in Israel. I think they all work well on their own.

I love it prn KAHTya, with barely any pause between the syllables, it just seems weird to pronounce the j. Also using a short o sound rather than a soft a makes it feel harsh. Sorry.Katja Lorraine
Katja Nadine
Katja Miracle
Katja Haley
Katja Miriam
Katja Bethan
