I know a couple Amandas. Two who goe by just Amanda, one who goes by Manda & one who goes by Mandi. I don't like the name and never have. It seems like one of those names that was popular for like 5 years for one generation and then went out and hasn't been used since. (Just imo of course, not necessarily true). Same way I see Donna & Felicia... My mum grew up in the 70's w/ a couple of both but my grandmother had no friends w/ either name and I've never known either besides my mums friend.
