I know this is completely random, but I had a dream last night in which someone asked me and several other people if she should name her son Gerald or Gerard. Both the dream and awake version of me (sounds weird, I know) prefer Gerard, but I thought it was unusual that in my dream I loved the name, rather than just slightly preferring it. I believe dream-me also said Gerald sounded whiney, which I'm not sure I really think now that I'm conscious. Sorry for the rambling, odd post, but I never dream about names, and I'd never really thought about either of these, so I thought I'd post and see what other people think! Which do you like more and have you ever had dreams about names? Ever liked a name more in a dream than in real life?

Awww. Why doesn't anyone like Gerald? Hehe.

Gerald was the name of my grandfather, and I (seriously) think it is the most handsome name ever.

Nothing against Gerard of course, I just don't think it'll ever be as good as Gerald. ♥

I like Gerard. Gerald is an annoying boy in my grade, and Gerard is Gerard Way.

Gerard is the better of the two, but to me both aren't exactly the best things in the world. Gerard has a harsh sound at the end while Gerald reminds me of someone from the early to mid 20th century.

I much prefer Gerard, Gerald does nothing for me.

My favorite name dream was where I was working in a nursery and a male nurse needed a name for a baby, and I (very excitedly) suggested Agathangelos. Love that both in and out of my dream. However, the nurse cut the name in half and gave the baby a middle name... He ended up being named Agath Jephrey Angelos . Jephrey's weird (I think it's because I kept seeing an ad for a band on Facebook and the bassist(?) was called Jeph), and I wish the name hadn't been split.

I love both Gerald and Gerard.

Gerald for most people will have a mustier, older feeling so Gerard will be more easily accepted, at least here in the U.S.

I've never had a dream name, more's the pity.

I prefer Gerald, partly because of Gone With The Wind, but also because the -ard sound at the end bothers me, I just don't find it appealing.

I've had a few dreams about names, though I can't remember them anymore. I think in one I wanted to name my daughter Tansy-Kate Tulip, which is definitely not my waking style.
