[Opinions] Elinor, Eleanor, Elanor or Eleanore?
Which spelling do you prefer and why? I think I prefer Elinor but I'm not quite sure as I also like Elanor, Eleanor and Eleanore. How do the people you know with the name spell it?

ElinorI have a tendency towards Hebrew names and I've seen Elinor used on some Jewish children and Israeli children. Personal preference. Also, I really dislike Eleanor and Eleanore because they remind me of FDR's wife, of whom I am not particularly fond. Elanor looks like you sort of forgot to add an "e" somewhere.I don't know anyone with the name, but Eleanor is probably the most common spelling.

Its a beautiful name, I know a girl named Elinor which is lovely I think but personally I prefer Eleanor-its just looks perfectly flushed out to me, Elinor and Elanor looking a bit short and Eleanore a bit long.

Eleanor is my favoriteElanor doesn't look right to me. I know it's a legit name, but it just looks like someone is trying to be "unique" with Eleanor. With Eleanore, the 'e' just isn't necessary, so it's out. Elinor is okay, but I don't pronounce Elinor and Eleanor the same way. Elinor is more like EL-lin-nor and Eleanor is EL-ə-nor.

Here's how it is for me:
1. Eleanor - the most classic to me
2. Eleanore - this seems more elegant, + it's one of my favorite author's name
3. Elinor - I don't know, but this has seemed almost fake (?). Never cared for it.
4. Elanor - This just annoys me.

I think I like Elinor because it was used in Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Elinor was more common than Eleanor in the middle ages from what I know as well. I think Elinor to me looks sweet and honest and Eleanor just makes me think of "lean" and Lea, a name that I'm not fond of.

Aye, Elinor Dashwood stimulated my fondness for Elinor. :)

Eleanor...Because it seems like the traditional spelling (I suppose I could be wrong) and it's how my grandmother's name is spelled. I only person I know who has this name is my grandmother.I don't really like the name

I prefer Eleanor... I just like the look of it best.I do also like Elinor, though.I don't know anyone in everyday life with the name, but there is someone on another board I post at who recently had a baby girl and named her Eleanor, this spelling. It was also my great-grandmother's name, spelled Eleanor.
