I like the fact that it has very little popularity (but still in the top 1000 in the US) and it's a good classic name.

However, the sound and look doesn't appeal to me. I do like Al- names, but I think the "bert" is a turn off.

Al, Bert, Albe, Ert = nicknames I can think of. I like Albe but I don't think it ages well.
