[Opinions] Vanessa
WDYT? Tacky? Dated? I used to strongly dislike it and find it trashy, but I like it better these days (though probably not enough to use, except maybe for a character).

There's something about Vanessa that smells like trash.

I love it. I don't think it's the least bit trashy. It's never occurred to me that it would have that connotation or image. I don't think it's dated either, in that, at least here in the U.S., it's never gone through any spurt of popularity, so it's not tied to any specific era. I've only known one Vanessa my entire life, and that was years ago back in high school. I think it's a beautiful name that deserves to be more widely used.

I think I see it as trashy because in Italy it's one of those "new" names that not very educated people typically pick from US soap operas, along the likes of Jessica, Samantha, Jennifer, etc. It's always interesting to see how the same name is perceived differently in different cultures.

I love Vanessa, and the nickname Nessa is very cute. It was coined by a poet, so Vanessa's classy, not tacky. It was never very popular over here, so I can't say it's dated. But because of the extremely annoying Vanessa Anne Hudgens, I'd say this name is going to get very popular soon.

I dislike the Van part..I don't know why. I really like Nessa on its own though, especially if you use the Hebrew meaning :)
