[Facts] Meaning of the name Tiahna
If anyone can assist me in the meaning of the name Tiahna in Maori. I know that if it was spelt Tiana (without the H) then it is Greek and means Princess but I have been told that Tiahna with the H is actually Maori but I am unable to locate the meaning.Thank you.

Ditto. Tiana was definitely not 'princess' in Greek. A princess in Greek would be Basile/Basileia, Despoina or Ho Turannos (which actually meant 'sovereign ruler' and referred to the entire royal family, not just 'princess'). And I've never seen anything like Tiahna in Maori. There's te anake 'the alone' or tinana 'body' or tàriana (boar...shame isn't it, such a pretty name it would make but you don't want to name your daughter 'boar') but the only thing I've seen close to Tiana is Karaitiana, based upon the English word and meaning the same as 'christian'.Devon

I've never heard of this as a Maori name - and Tiana doesn't mean "Princess", either.According to this site, Tiana is a short form of Christiana (follow the hyperlinks for details). Elsewhere I've seen it as a short form of Tatiana - either is possible.Tiahna is a variant spelling of Tiana, along with Tian, Tiane, Tiahn, Tianna, Tianne etc.:-)
