[Opinions] Helena
I realize this is will depend on your location on the globe, but how do YOU pronounce this name? Which pronunciation do you think is most common?

As Heh-LEH-nah in SwedenNot as HELL-eh-nah, He-LEE-nah or as Heh-LAY-nah."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

I think many people would pronounce heh-leh-nah and heh-lay-nah identically (here in the US, at least).

I pronounce it heh-LAY-na, but I've also heard HEL-en-ah.

I'm from the U.S. South, and I've never actually met anyone with the name. :b But most times I hear it (on tv, etc.), it's Heh-LAY-nah. Once it was heh-LEE-nah, and several times I've heard it (usually on British women) it's Helen-ah. I prefer heh-LAY-nah, btw. :)

I prefer it pronounced He-LAY-na. I do not care for He-LEE-na or Hell-uh-na at all. I love the name He-LAY-na, but because there are so many different pronunciations, I would never name my daughter's first name Helena because of the confusion it would bring.

I like Huh-LEN-uh the best. I usually hear it pronounced HELEN-a (like Helen with an "uh" at the end). I like that too. I hear huh-LEE-nuh and huh-LAY-nuh a lot also.

It's difficult for me to say which pronunciation is most common since I've only known one Helena my entire life and she pronounced it he-LAY-na. I prefer HE-len-a and I've even heard the name pronounced he-LEE-na. I suspect he-LAY-na is the most common pronunciation in the US.

I pronounce it Helen-ah and I live in North America. I just can't pronouce it Ha-lee-nah or He-lee-nah no matter how hard I try! Most people I know would pronounce it Helen-ah

I say heh-LAYN-uh. I hear heh-LAYN-uh and HEL-en-uh equally often; I've heard heh-LEEN-uh too but it's rarer where I live._____________________________________________________________________Elinor'Why do people with closed minds, always open their mouths?'

I say HEL-en-uh, and I'm from the UK. This is definitely the most common pronunciation here, but I reckon huh-LAY-nuh is probably the most common in the world. I prefer HEL-en-uh though.

I say heh-LAY-nah. I hear that one most often, especially with the MCR song and all. I like heh-LEE-nah next best, and then Helen-uh, which I think is really ugly.Array
