I know a Carolyn and a Carolin (German). Both are teenagers. Both are constantly called Caroline by people that are too stupid to know the difference. I hate the name Carolyn, though. I'm sorry. I do like Carol, Caroline, and Carolanne (which I've heard used once). If I had to choose a spelling, I'd go with Carolin personally, though many people read that as Caroline by mistake. I think lyn/lynn is very dated in most names. I'm not crazy about the spelling Karolyn, but it would work in Germany I think. I've never heard of people pronouncing Caroline like Carolyn. That would be extremely confusing.
