I grew up knowing a couple of neighbours named Ira, so it's familiar to me.

I know it's a perfectly legit name, but I can't get past the fact that it means rage in my language (pronounced EE-ra).

I went to high school with two Jewish guys named Ira. Other than that I have never heard it again in my life. I don't really care for it myself.

I would like it if it didn't remind me of the I.R.A (Irish Republican Army)

I think it's great.

It's also Russell Crowe's mn.
A mn is where I'd keep it, because it's so much like the diminutive of the Russian girl's name Irina nn Ira.

Love Ira. I think it is a wonderful name. Should make a bit of a comeback...
