[Opinions] Chloe, Chloë or Chloé?
Chloe, Chloë or Chloé?I've decided I want to change my name from Clancy to Chloe(as I hate my own name but think Chloe still sounds right in my mind, given the similar beginning and ending)... but I'm not sure which spelling to use?

Just Chloe.

Some might think that using any sort of accents implies pompousness. There is also the fact that the French Chloé has a different pronunciation - klo-AY as opposed to klo-EE. I might recommend not having any sort of accent. Few people use it, many are confused by it, and it will not show up in many documents - no matter how important (as a Chloë myself, I can attest to it!). If you feel like adding an accent, you can every now and then. Hello and welcome, other new Chloe! :DPS: How long have you thought about changing your name for?

Hey! I'm leaning towards no accent but they add a more unusual element to it, that's all.I've hated my name my whole life so I've toyed with the idea of changing it since i was about 5. hah. What was your name before the change?

My name was Kristina before I changed it. I still kept it, bumped it to the middle :) One more caveat to you - I picked Chloe without knowing that it was one of the top ten names in my country. Now I meet little Chloes every other day, and the name is being subjected to the fate of all other extremely popular names: called shallow, trashy, flaky, boring etc. I'm not sure if that figures in to your consideration. Some people love having a popular name - make sure you are one of those :)

I've considered that... and as much as I am a fan of original names, it's the only name that seems to really 'fit', and given that there aren't too many Chloe's my own age I think that I'm okay with the popularity.

Nobody will use accents if you live in the US. Chloe.

Chloé is pronounced differently than the others, klo-AY.For the pronunciation KLO-ee, the best spelling is Chloë, imo.

If you want it to be pronounced Chlo-ee, then go for the first or the second. I believe the pronunciation of Chloé is Chlo-eh, so I wouldn't use this unless you want it to be pronounced that way.I personally prefer the accentless Chloe for its simplicity, but Chloë is also very nice, as long a your prepared to remind people about the two dots whenever they spell it.

Chloe. Much easier that way & it's lovely.:)

Chloë is the most sophisticated.
We had a Zoë at school, and I think it looks more complete that way.

In an English-speaking context, Chloe might make more sense, but accents and umlauts aren't there just to look pretty, they imply pronounciation changes. So Chloé would be pronounced Chlo-eh rather than Chlo-ee. I'm not even sure if Chloë's legit with the umlaut.
