[Opinions] Albert
This is my grandfather's name, and I've often thought of using it for a son. I'd probably use it as a middle name, though, since it's too old-fashioned for me to use it as a first name. So, WDYT? Personally, I think it's kind of cute.

like it lotsI like Alfred only slightly more, but Albert is glorious. The nickname Albie is too cute not to use. I knew an Albert, he was hilarious. I highly recomend this name. What would you combo it with?

I'm not sure what I'd pair it with. My husband and I have thought of Magnus Albert, since Magnus is a family name on his side, and (obviously), Albert is a family name on mine. That's all we've thought of so far, but I'm wondering if that combo sounds a little too out-there. We really like it, but I'm afraid it might be too "heavy", if I'm making any sense.

Magnus AlbertUh, SO not too out there...unless by "out there" you mean "terrifically cool and awesome".I know what you mean about it being too heavy - it's too bad there's not a really good nickname for it. Maybe Gus? Uh, I don't know. But I do really like it. But it's certainly a name that attracts attention - it's not a "don't mind me" kind of name.

I have a strong appreciation for Albert. Such a great underused name, though I do greatly prefer the French pronunciation. I adore Alberta as well.

I love Albert. My sister, who is pregnant, also loves this name, but unfortunately it is their cat's name, so I don't they'll be using it for a son. "Albert" is also my 18 month old niece's favorite word to say because she loves that cat so. Whenever she sees any kind of animal she points at it and asks "Ah-ber?" It's precious. So that's what I think of lately when I hear Albert, but I also think it's a solid, stately name that would be darling on a little boy and handsome on a grown man.

It's too old-fashioned and nerdy for me, as are a lot of -bert names.

I don't find it too old-fashioned to use as a first name at all! Albert is a classic and ages well.I like the French pronunciation also, as in Albert Camus.

As a middle name it seems fine. It is a family name for me too, but I prefer Alban.

I think it's delightful! It was my grandfather's name, and I would absolutely use it for a middle name if not for a first name; it depends on my mood.I do love Alfred more, but it's not a family name.
