[Facts] meaning of Merrick
I just read a book called Merrick where the main character was a female. I feel inlove with this name but all the sites I've been to have it listed as a boy's name. Can anyone help me in figuring out if it's considered a unisex name?

I've never heard "Merrick" used as a first name, but to me it has male associations: David Merrick (actor) and John Merrick (Elephant Dude). On the other hand, my son used to date a lovely young lady first-named Merritt, which is similar and sounded good.

IMHO- Merrick should be a man's name.
