How do you pronounce Helena? It seems like everyone pronounces it differently. Opinions on the name?

I've only known one Helena who pronounced is heh-LAY-na. That's my default pronunciation and the one I've heard most often, but I also like HEH-len-a.I like it a lot and would love to see it used more often.

HELEN-uhI love it with that pronunciation. The others don't do much for me.

In South Africa, where we have minimal Latino influence, it's HEL-in-a in English and he-LEAH-na in Afrikaans. I far prefer Helen, but I instinctively put the emphasis on the first syllable - partly I think because that fits the usage in Midsummer Night's Dream!

I've seen it pronounced Helen-ah and He-layn-a, but the second way should probably be spelled Helaina. I pronounce it the first way since I'm a huge Shakespeare fan and that's how it was pronounced.

huh-LAY-naI love it! I am considering Juliette Helena for a girl

You should keep it Helen-a and keep the Shakespeare theme going (Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream).

HEL-en-uh.I like it, but I don't like the he-LAY-na prn. It seems like it's trying too hard or something, idk.

I pronounce it Hel-lay-nuh.I wouldn't use it because of the General Hospital villan and the My Chemical Romance song.

I say ha-LAY-nah. I think it sounds the best out of the pronunciation options. I like it a lot. It's very feminine and strong at the same time.

I like the Helen-a pronunciation; he-LAY-na sounds too melodramatic to me . . . probably because of Helena Cassidine.

Woo! Helena Cassidine! Who doesn't love a lady that is evil and brings people back to life?

I say HEL-en-uh, like Helen with an A. A lot of people say hel-AY-nuh.I like the name, and I think Lena would be a nice nickname.

I think it's pretty. I tend to pronounce it Helen-a (like Helen with an "a" at the end), but I like he-LE-na, he-LEE-na, and he-LAY-na too.
