[Opinions] Aaliyah
AaliyahSo lately I've started to really like this name, and would definitely consider using it.I really like the sound and meaning, only problem is the spelling and I'm wondering would most people be able to pronounce Aaliyah properly?? Thought about Aleeah and Aliyah but just doesn't appeal to me the same.... Wdyt??

I've never heard it pronounced, so I don't know what I'd guess. It looks like the sound people make when the doctor or dentist asks them to open wide!Basically, especially in today's world, people encounter lots of names they've never heard before and then you just tell them how to say it.

My cousin is thinking the same thing. I think it will be okay though I like spelling it Alea though she thinks it looks like flea.

I prefer the Aliyah spelling because something about the double 'a' doesn't do much for me. But I do think most people would pronounce it correctly. I wouldn't worry about that. It's a really pretty name. I love the softness of it.

Not sure that any of those three spellings are more or less likely to be pronounced correctly.
The only one that doesn't look goofy to me is Aliyah. Aaliyah always makes me think someone stutter-typed. And Aleeah is way too many vowels in a row as far as I'm concerned.
The name itself sounds really pretty though.

Well according to this site I've been saying it wrong forever ("AH-lee-ah" as apposed to the correct "ah-LEE-ah") so I can't say how people will say it.Aaliyah is for sure the better spelling, that double-a is just so awesome. I also like Alia, but only because I am a geek and I liked the Dune books.
