[Opinions] Schuyler
I've seen this name a lot recently, and it is growing on me. I prn is pretty much as it is spelled with the soft "sh" sound, but I see it as a variant of Skyler, too. How do you prn it, and wdyt?
:)

No, but words with a German origin or root form......will pronounce words with an "sch" like "sh". It just so happens that the word "school" has middle Dutch roots, so like Schuyler, it's pronounced with a "sk". An honest mistake for anyone to make if they'd never heard Schuyler pronounced before. :)_____

It's spelled Schuyler, not Schulyer, and it's pronounced the same as Skylar / Skyler. I used to love this name, about 10 years ago, but I greatly dislike it now. :b

I pronounce it exactly like Skylar. I do like this spelling better that any other spellings. If I'm not mistaken Skylar & Skyler are just phonetical spellings of Schulyer. I like this name best for a boy.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Skyler is just a phonetic / Anglicized form of Schuyler. (I assume your spelling it Schulyer is just a typo) As far as I know, it's always pronounced Skyler. Have you ever heard anyone named that pronounce it Shyler?I prefer Schuyler on a guy, Skylar on a girl.- chazda

You'd be correct. Didn't even notice. I tend to be dyslexic from time to time. Also, I don't actually know anyone with this name, which is part of its appeal. It's not common around here at all. I've never heard it in "real life.":)

I honestly don't like the name Schuyler. I would pronounce it shyoo-ler, but I do see how it could be a variant of Skylar. I think Skylar is much better though._________________________________________________

It has a nice meaning when spelled Schulyer, but this form looks too much like a last name, imo. Schulyer (and Skylar) has a nice sound, but I'd use Skye instead.

Like the others I'd say it's pronounced like Skylar, and as for it being popular...I don't know about that. The first time I heard the name Skylar was when that "Stacked" programme started a month or so ago so well at least in NZ it's not popular

It is pronounced like Sky-ler.
I like it, but it's too popular where I live.

I pronounce it just like Skyler... I know two little boys with this name and one little girl... I think it is a very cute name, but it is extremely popular where I live."Never make someone a priority, who only makes you an option."
