[Opinions] Echo
WDYT of Echo? I know a toddler named Echo-no middle name-and I'm curious to hear what you guys think. It's a girl.Personally, I think it's a little silly, and I don't like the story behind it.

I like Echo. I've used in a story but I can see it IRL, too.

I think it's silly, too. Plus it makes me think of that game Echo the Dolphin. Oh, or Mr. Eko!

I think it's silly too. I don't really like words as names.

I went to high school with a girl named Echo. I'm not a fan.

I like it a lot though I would hesitate to use it in real life.
If Halo wasn't a well known game, I think it would be a cool name too!:)Danielle

I think it's a great girl name. I named one of my hens Echo, but I think it's a great spunky name for a girl.

I think it's kind of cool :) It gives me the same feel as Io, but more substantial and thus more usable. It is a bit adventurous to use without a middle name though.

I agree, it's silly. I would not want to be addressed as Echo. It's slightly comical to call someone Echo because of the word meaning. And because of the associated symbolism, it also has a connotation of absence, emptiness, fatuousness, for me. An echo is a disembodied, mindless voice that just repeats anything you say ... that makes it really downbeat, IMO.

I like Echo! I think its classical / mythological foundation exempts it from accusations of silliness.

It's not horrible, but I'm not a fan. I've met a teenaged Echo and a friend of mine calls his daughter Echo as a nn 'cause he read it in a book once and always liked it... but I wouldn't do it.

I like it, but would only use it as a middle name because of the teasing potential.
Can just imagine a roomful of students going 'echo, echo' everytime the girl's name was called.
Unfortunate as it's a nice name.

Oh I love this name! I think the story behind it is sad though.

When I was a teenager I knew a girl named Echo and she was really burdened by her name. One of her chief complaints was that she had to constantly tell the story of the mythological character Echo.

I like the way it sounds and looks but I would never use it in real life. I think that because it is a word, you just think of the word "echo", which is actually kind of a creepy thing to be named after. To me it is definitely a girl's name. Also, there is a character on "Lost" called Eko (male) and I really disliked the character, so I think of that too.
