Esslyn is probably made up. There's not one single result for it as a first name or a surname in UK records from 1837 to last year, and the only male Welsh name I can think of that even sounds like it is Iestyn.

If you go to one of the genealogy web sites, like familysearch.org or ancestry, there are actually quite a few people with the first name Eslyn (spelled with one s). But it's not clear that they all belong to one ethnic group so it's hard to say what the origin was.
