I absolutely adore Lionel! I don't think it's dated.

I really like it, but I don't know if I would saddle a kid with it as their first name.
But, I'm all for it with characters and middle names!

I love Lionel! My favorite combo for him lately is Lionel Rhys.

Reminds me of Lionel Messi, so I find it very contemporary. I prefer Leonel, and the [lee-o] pronunciation.

It reminds me of Lionel Hampton, the jazz musician (there is a jazz festival named in his honor that I used to attend every year). I like it a lot. It is a bit dated, I think, but not in a bad way. I could totally see baby Lionels.

There's something that puts me off of Lionel. I'm not quite sure what it is though. Maybe I do feel that it is too dated...
