Help[Opinions] Georgette, Vivenne, Cordelia?
If you met a little girl named Georgette what would you think? Is it useable or no?
What about Vivienne & Cordelia too?
One last question is the only nickname possibility for Josephine "Joey"? Do you think that's the most likely? I'm afraid that possibility is too "Dawson's Creek" for me to use it even though I love it. :(

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Passed these recent names by my husband and he veto'd Georgette & Vivienne, bad associations from people he's known apparently.
But Cordelia & Josephine didn't get immediate "NO's" so those are staying for now. I like the possible nn Cora for Cordelia.
I'm not sure why I'm worrying so much about nicknames because our daughter is Anastasia and she only ever gets called her full name which I am pleasantly surprised by.

I'm not a fan of Georgette. I think the -ette is a bit too dated. Georgia or Georgianna are nicer, in my opinion.
Vivienne is pretty and elegant.

Josephine has plenty of nickname options- Jo, Joey, Josie, Posy, Fee, Fina, etc. I don't think she'd automatically be called Joey. I think most people would go for Josie first, actually.

I LOVE Vivienne, although personally I prefer the spelling Vivien. It's a little more restrained, mature and sophisticated, wheras Vivienne is more feminine and floaty, depends on the feel you're going for.
Georgette isn't bad. I'm not a fan of any 'george' name, and I'm not into 'ette' endings, so I don't really like it. But it is different, and much better than Georgia.
Cordelia is great! A bit quirky, and I love the potential nn Cora. It may be a bit hard to pull off, but it's a nice name, very English.

No, Joey isn't the only nickname possibility out there for Josephine. There's Jo, Josie, and Sephie. My favorites are Josie and Sephie.

I don't care for Georgette, but I think it's usable. I definitely prefer Georgiana (especially when pronounced jor-JAY-na) as a feminine, elaborated form of George.
I like Vivienne (Vivian is my middle name, and I do pronounce them differently), and I really like Cordelia (I used to like this more, but I'm still a fan).
I'd use Josie or Sosie for Josephine. Joey is definitely not a nickname I'd go for. I think Sephy/ Seffy, or Fina work, too.

Well, I narrowly escaped being named Georgette, after my father who was George. The mere thought of having nearly landed the name Georgette freaked me out for much of my childhood--I could not have imagined a worse name fate. Maybe Priscilla. Anyway, Gail was a compromise, one I continue to thank my mother for, one that has suited me to a tea and served me really well. So, many years later, I'm still not in the Georgette camp. At all. I have come around to Georgia, though, which I find classy and very ladylike. BTW, Georgette & Vivienne are both classic Franco-American names.
Vivienne is beautiful. Cordelia? The thing with all these names is their ultra-femininity, which at some level you have to want, or at least accept. Which is great if you grow into an ultra-feminine kind of woman, but I certainly didn't, nor do I think I would have even with that kind of name.
So my caveat would be: only use these names if you have a nn that isn't demeaning, by which I mean--some girls might really, really need a nn to escape the cloying quality.

I would LOVE to meet a little girl named Georgette. I think it's usable, but that might just be me. Vivienne I'm not to keen on because it's becoming so much more popular, and I prefer other spellings to this one. Cordelia is very pretty, but it seems a bit too old ladyish to me.

If I met a little girl named Georgette, I'd wish she was a Georgia, Georgiana, or Georgina. Georgette is completely usable, but it's definitely not my favorite feminization of George. The -ette ending sounds pretty dated to me.
I'd be delighted to meet a Vivienne, and I all but swooned over the only little Cordelia to cross my path. I love both although I slightly prefer the Vivien spelling over Vivienne.
I've met a few little Josephines over the past couple years, and they've all been "Josie." I think you could avoid Joey.

Georgette is rather sweet - I like it. Of course, georgette is a kind of dress material popular decades ago (1930s I think) - few people are likely to make that association nowadays, and it wouldn't matter if they do. I like all the Georg- girl's names and Georgette is uncommon and adorably cute.

I think Georgette is really cute. It's one of the few -ette names I like. It's definitely usable. Vivienne and Cordelia are also definitely usable.
Josephine has lots of nn possibilities, and I think the most obvious one is Josie. That's the only one I've ever heard of anyone actually using in real life. Jo could be assumed too, but I don't think anyone would think Joey. But I never watched Dawson's Creek either. There's also Sephie, Phina, and Posy. I've seen one or two baby Josephines nn Posy online before.
