A couple on the fringes of my aquaintance network had twins. Isaac and Isla (pronounced AY-la).
I personally would pronounce Isla, EE-la, but all-together a nice combo.

I like both names separately, particularly Isla, but they're too close for siblings if they both start with the "IE" sound, which is how I pronounce both. I'm not sure how they got AY-la from Isla unless the "AY" is supposed to be pronounced basically like the word "aye" in this case. I've always heard Isla pronounced IE-la (rhyming with Kyla).

Well BtN says that Isla is pronounced Eye-la. That's how I say it too. And I'll use it if I ever have a daughter. So..... The weird way they say Isla and the fact that Isaac and Isla are too similar. It's kind of tacky. How do they say Isaac? Do they say that wrong too?

I pronounce Isla "EES-la" after the Spanish way, since it's the Spanish word for island. I think Isaac and Isla are too close.

This pronunciation is the only one the Forno site provides, no matter if the language is Spanish, Portuguese, or English.

Yes, Forno is a pronunciation website--different speakers post pn's from different languages.

I haven't heard Isla pronounced as AY-la or EE-la, I pronounce it IE-la myself. They're possibly a bit similar for me, but either way they are both nice names.

Isla - if using the Scottish name is Aye-la

Sorry, Aye in Scottish is pronounced the same way as Eye. So Eye-la

I've never heard Isla pronounced like EE-la, I've always said AY-la. I like the names, but I wouldn't use them for twins.

I think it's more European Spanish in stead of Mexican/Latin Spanish.

AY-la like a long 'a' ??? I've only ever heard Isla pronounce EYE-la, like island. I'm not even sure how you get a long A out of "is-"
