Was watching a Bollywood movie and the stars names was Simran. She pronounced it like Sin- ryn. I could'nt find any information on it. Was wondering what you think?

My niece's best friend is a Simran and she pronounces it SIM rahn. I think it's lovely. As a word, it seems to be associated with some kind of Sikh religious concept:

Hmm. I think I like it, although I keep wanting to say Sihm-ran. It reminds me of something, but I can't remember what...

Silmarillion? That's what it reminds me of. I like it, but I don't get why it would be said with an n instead of an m, unless that's a typo? But I also don't know much about Indian names.
