I really like it, esp. because I associate it with the movie "Muriel's Wedding," which I love. :b

I'm one of the likers. I love the sound of it (although the spelling does look a little too musty).- chazda

I love it. I had a college friend with this name.

I like it. It's very much an 'old-lady' name where I live, but ripe for comeback. For a fresher version, I like Meriel, Mariel and Mariella._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I'm not a huge fan but it's alright. All I can think of is the dense, but sweet, old lady in Courage the Cowardly Dog. I think that it could be cute on a little girl - but a quiet, overly-well-mannered little girl. All in all its nms."We can even learn from our enemies." -Ovid

I like Muriel and I think it ages well, but I would never use it myself.

I confess I adore this name. I will probably be in the minority. "Muriel's Wedding" first turned me on to the name. And then I heard a relative of mine say it with the Gaelic "r" it deserves and the name is musical to my ears now. The meaning "sea bright" or "bright as the sea" adds to its charm.
