[Opinions] Miranda
What do you think of Miranda? I'm surprised it's not more popular. Do you think it was overused in the 90s?What do you think of the combo Summer Rain? Too much? I don't think I'd use it but I really like it at the moment.

I'm not a fan of Miranda. I dislike the -anda ending.I think it's too much, but I would consider them separately. They're not terrible. I do like Summer.

My niece is Miranda nn Mira, so I think of her right away. I don't really know that many Mirandas and I know for a fact that I didn't go to school with any, so I don't think it was overused. However: I don't really like the name. It's pretty enough, it has a neat history - but there is something lacking. Not sure what.I love the idea of Summer Rain - the refreshing, warm, cleansing rain - but it's a bit cheesy.

I like Miranda a lot. My only qualm about it is that it is potentially too popular (but that might be because I was born in the 90's. Maybe it isn't popular anymore.)
I like it because it definitely has a witchy, fairy-princess, fantasy side while still being a very practical name for everyday use. I like it with the nickname Mira (I know a few Mirandas, but only one who ever goes by Mira.)I like Summer Rain :) I have a soft spot for nature and hippie-type names. I wouldn't use that combo, but I would use Rain as a middle name.

I like Miranda, especially with the nickname Mira. I don't think it's dated -- I've never met one.Summer Rain sounds like a brand of douche or deodorant.

I never liked Miranda. It sounds too formal and uptight to me.Summer Rain sounds like the name of a douche on the Walgreens shelf.

Summer Rain sounds like a room freshener. Yes, it is way too much.I don't like Miranda, I picture a fat redheaded girl with awful skin, buck teeth and ugly glasses who is always yapping and snapping and trying to show off how smart she is.

I really like Miranda. It never made it to the top 50 in the 1990s, so although it was in the top 100, I don't think it was terribly overused.I like the images that come to mind when I hear Summer Rain, but I think it's a bit much, and it's on the cheesy side. I can see its appeal, though.

I think Miranda is okay. I went to school with one. She was nice. But my honest first thought about it was Miranda from As Told By Ginger. Total mean girl.I think Summer Rain is a bit much. Summer is cute and Rain is okay. Together, too much. It does have an okay sound though.

I love Miranda! As I just mentioned yesterday, it was one of my favorite names when I was a teenager, I was ridiculed for that by my older sister, and took pleasure in telling her years later that I still liked the name and it hadn't been a stupid teenage phase.I'm surprised that it isn't more popular, also. I wish that some of the Amandas out there had been Mirandas, instead. It did have a spell of popularity in the 90s, but it was never so high that you could call it overused.I say go for Summer Rain. What the heck? Sure, it's a little cheesy, but it's whimsical, too, and I don't think that it's so cheesy as to be embarrassing.

Interesting that your sister made fun of you for liking Miranda. What did she think was so bad about it? Did she just not care for the sound of it?I definitely prefer Miranda to Amanda, too. I've met a bunch of Amandas, but I can only recall actually meeting two people named Miranda. Too bad some of those Amandas weren't named Miranda.

She just said that Miranda was ugly and it made her think of Carmen Miranda. And, apparently, time did not change her opinion, either.
