[Opinions] Delaney
I was just reading a book with a character named Delaney and it reminded me how much I like the name. It's also one of few names I like equally on both genders (Quinn and Sage being the other two).
I also love Laney as a nickname for Elena or Alaina. WDYT of them?

not to be a naysayer...but I really don't like this name. It's very awkward-sounding to me, and I don't think it sounds feminine at all. Even like some girl's names that have that hard-soft thing going, which I usually like.

Usually I don't like last names as first names (Esp. on girls) but I do have a soft spot for Delaney (Quinn too) because they ARE actually attractive. Ill be honest and say that I prefer Delaney on a girl tbh, although I like Quinn for both.Laney is not bad but it works better for Delaney. IMHO I can't stand Alaina, and most English-speaking people pronounce Elena as e-LAY-nuh or i-LAY-nuh, neither of which I like so it's kind of been ruined for me.

I didn't know it was unisex, I thought it was a girls name and I can't really imagine it on a boy. Laney is quite cute but I prefer it was a nickname for Lorraine or Elena.

Delaney is feminine to me because of the "ney" sound at the end and the possible Dell, Della and Laney nicknames.
The name was a bit popular a while ago but now it seems to have become less popular recently and I've only met one Delaney, a girl with dark blond hair and tanned skin and bright blue eyes. It's a spunky name and I like it fairly well.Laney makes an adorable nickname for Delaney and also would be sweet for Elena and Alaina.
