[Opinions] Araminta
What do you think of the name Araminta? I can't decide if it's quaint or stuffy.

I like it, but admit it would take guts to use in real life.

14,004 times better than Arabella. I would never use it, but I'd sure stand up and take notice if I heard it somewhere.

I love Araminta. I have ever since I discovered it in M.M. Kaye's "The Ordinary Princess" as a kid.I wouldn't use it myself - too fussy for my tastes - but I'd rejoice to see it on someone else's child.

Araminta: sweetens the breath, whitens the teeth and settles the stomach all in one tasty swish. In other words, it sounds like mouthwash.

I like it. Very sweet.

I think it's quaint and I quite like it, I just have a hard time imagining it on a person in real life. But, I don't know, maybe it could work. It's a cool name, for sure.

I've always liked it. I like the -inta ending. I also like the sound of -raminta. It's a little stuffy though, which is why I wouldn't use it. I imagine everyone knowing her as Minnie or Mindy, and people laughing when they find out that it's short for "Araminta!" Shame, because I think it's really lovely. Long names don't fare well in this day and age - unless there's no obvious nickname.

It's simultaneously quaint and stuffy, which is precisely why I love it!

To me,it's 18th-century quaint, which would make it 19th-century stuffy (when all those ditzy damsels had grown up to be somebody's severe aunt). I wouldn't use it, but it's not the worst thing to do to a child.
