And I'll repeat what I said then: I love Amanda and always have.

I've met some very nice people named Amanda, and it has a great meaning, but I don't really care for the sound of it. I think of someone saying, "A man, duh!" The -manda part sounds clunky to me.

I dislike the nickname Mandy, but someone named Amanda wouldn't have to go by Mandy, so that isn't too much of an issue.

I've always liked it. It has a certain eighteenth century type charm. I would have considered using it if not for its popularity.

It's not horrible by any means. I know a lot of people out right hate it. I do love the nicknames Mandy and the French pet name Amandine.
