[Opinions] Merrick
Wdyto Merrick? Could it work for a girl? What about as a double fn?

I knew a girl who called herself Merrick, in high school, before Anne Rice wrote.
It came off as aggressive and affected, like as if she was called Brett or Frankie.
Merrick is my longtime favorite male name.

It sounds like a number of boys' names (such as Erik), so I think it would work better for a boy.

I think it is obscure enough that it could for a boy or a girl.
I personally think it is more masculine but I wouldn't think someone was crazy for using it on a girl. I do think I like Merrit slightly better for a girl.

IMO, Merrick does not work on a girl at all.

I love Merrick for a boy, but it sounds ridiculous for a girl. Sorry.

I think Merrick was the surname of the elephant man, so that puts me off. I dislike surnames as first names, especially on girls. Merrick on a girl is very unattractive imo.

I like Merrick a lot for a boy. I don't love it for a girl. I would prefer Merit (or Merritt or Meret, whichever spelling) or Marika for a girl. I suppose using it as a double first name paired with something more simple (something like Anne-Merrick, maybe) would make it more wearable, but I still don't really like it for a girl.Lovely on a boy, though!

I'm sorry, but the name Merrick only makes me think of the sad fate of Joseph Merrick, "The Elephant Man". He's one of my heroes, but his life was so tragic.
I think Merry works better for a girl, although I can't say I like it either.

I think it's cool. It reminds me of a certain type of character, I'm not sure what exactly... young, lots of personality, constantly cheerful, possibly a pickpocket or something.
I don't think it works on a girl because of the "rick", but Merrit could be a girl. Or maybe Merric, if that doesn't look to weird.
I'm not good at coming up with double fns, but the names Merrick and Robin seem to want each other's company.
