[Facts] What does "Aleia" mean?
Hello:
I am 32 years old and for my whole life, I have been asked the meaning of my name "Aleia" (pronounced a-laya). I have been told by people that it has several different origins, Hebrew, Arabic and Hawaiian. My mom states that she got the name from an episode of Hawaii Five-O. I have never seen that episode. I have searched far and wide for the answer. Anyone who could help would be greatly appreciated.

My parents got the name in Hawaii. They were told it was the name of a flower but later found out the flower was called something else... my name stuck though!

Does your mother remember anything about the character on Hawaii Five-O",? Did she make sure how the name was spelled on the credits before she gave it to you, or did she just spell it according to her own ideas without caring about that? It's certainly possible that the screenwriters of that episode simply invented the name.

I think it's probably:
1. A variant of Leia.
2. A variant of Aliyah (1).
3. A variant of Aliyah (2).Click on the hyperlinks for more info, and then take your pick. :-)
