I know we had a discussion about the meaning of Cecily but now I'd like to know what you think of the name. Do you like the sound? Do you think it could get popular? I'm really surprised it hasn't made the top 1000 in recent years. Do you have any idea why it isn't more common? What kind of parents would a Cecily have and what would she be like? Just tell me everything that comes to mind when you hear the name Cecily.

The combo would be Cecily Jane Elise.

I like the sound of Cecily. I don't think it will ever become very popular, but I would be surprised if it didn't enter the top 1000 in the near future.

What comes to mind when I hear the name Cecily:
1. Cecily King from the TV show Road to Avonlea (based on books by L. M. Montgomery)
2. Cecily Cardew from The Importance of Being Earnest
3. Various medieval people, such as Cecily Neville

I would be very happy to meet a Cecily of any age. I've never met anyone with that name. I would expect the parents of a young Cecily to be interested in history and/or literature.

ETA: Cecily Jane Elise is lovely. I don't always like Elise, but I like it here.

Cecily was one of my favorite names as a teenager. I thought it was absolutely beautiful, with a very graceful look and sound. Now, however, I find it rather weak-sounding, too precious - and God forbid if the bearer has even a minor lisp! Any parents that would name their daughter Cecily (or Cicely, for that matter) would be well-moneyed and cultured, I feel like.

Your combo, Cecily Jane Elise, is beautiful. My stock combo way-back-when was Cecily Faye.

I have very positive associations of watching Road to Avonlea as a child, so I support Cecily whole-heartedly. It feels very warm, kind, and gentle to me. Almost a push-over, and yet just really selfless.

Cecily Jane Elise is very nice.

Cecily brings to mind a bright, vibrant girl.
The combo is quite pretty.

I love it, and I like it so much more than Cecilia. I really don't like the "seel" sound in Cecilia. I like how Cecily ends with an "ee" sound, I like how it looks, I think it could be cute on a little girl but classy on an adult woman. I just love it!

It's not terrible but I think it's got an annoying sound because of all those s sounds jammed together. I feel the same about Cecilia which is much more popular. I'm guessing Cecily has never gotten popular because of its hissy, faintly baby-talkish sound, and also it has a posh feel to it, like a Victorian princess or something. Annabelle is a Victorian princess name, and Tessa has that babyish sound but they don't have both problems and so are more popular.

Cecily Jane Elise just sounds too fairy-tale and "proper" and sssss.

I like it fine, but I prefer Cecilia.

Maybe it's not more common because some people don't like the meaning.
