[Opinions] Carra/Cara
I've never been a fan of the Cara Kara Carrie Keri et al. names. I went to school with plenty of them and it's always seemed generic and dated to me. A few years ago I met a Carra who is just really pretty and cool and awesome and a bit edgy-crunchy-tastic, and it's made me start to think of Carra (at least that spelling) differently. (And then I've also discovered the tastiness that is cara cara oranges, so I was thinking about Cara too. Ha!)Now I'm thinking Carra / Cara is bright and sunny and sweet. Does anyone like it or does everyone else think it's blah and dated too?Do you pronounce it KAHR-a or KER-a? I know phonetically Carra should be with a short A, and that's how I say it in my head, but I'm sure any I'd encounter do pronounce it with a long a. I do prefer the sound with a long a when said outloud, but in my head either seem fine.I tried to make some combos to capture the sunniness I was getting from it.
Carra Sunshine (obvs)
Carra Penelope
Carra Francesca
Carra Ramona
Carra Virginia
Carra Zinnia
Carra Lyric
Carra Lilavati
Like any of these, or any other combos you have or like with it?

Normally I want to say kair-ah, but Carra makes me want to say kahr-ah. Ker-ah makes it sound like the name Kerr with an 'ah' at the end, but I'm assuming the 'er' is like air? I always get confused with the pronunciation explanations.Personally I don't much like that spelling though. I much prefer Cara, which looks cleaner and more sophisticated to me.Of your combos I like Carra Virginia best. It's such a sweet combo!

I don't care for the spelling of Carra at all, it looks weird to me. But I love the name Cara, prefer the sp Kara...it's my nieces name, and it fits her to a t! I love the meaning, the sound, etc. It is defintely one of my favorite names!
I pronounce it like Care-uh. Not sure which of your spelling options to choose, because I don't know if either of them is the way I pronounce it! Lol. Anyways, I like Cara Penelope and Cara Francesca. My other favs would be Kara Nicole, Kara Shae, Kara Linnae, or Kara Louise/Louisa.

I came across the name Carra yesterday on a blog, I don't think I'd ever heard it before so I don't have any associations with it. I can see the appeal but it's not really my style although it might grow on me. It does seem fairly bright.Cara and Kara do strike me as a bit dated and I have a negative personal association with Kara which puts me off it.Carra I'd pronounce like in the word "carry" whereas Cara is "Cah-ra" like Lara, Tara, Zara etc. This reminds me, I was going to record some pronunciations like Ora did in another thread. If I do, I'll had Carra, Carrie, Cara and Kerry to it!

I prefer Cara. I have too much of an association with Carra, (this is the nickname of one of the football (soccer) players from my favourite team - his last name is Carragher). But of course the majority of people in the world won't have that same association! :)I do pronounce them differently, but I'm from the UK so it's hard to explain how I pronounce them. For me, Cara is 'KAHR-a' and Carra is 'KAH-ra.'Carra Penelope and Carra Francesca are my favourites from your list.
