[Opinions] Maya
I have seen that there's a split in the pronunciation of the name 'Maya', usually either 'May-a' or 'My-uh'.
But how do you pronounce it? And if you know someone called Maya how do they pronounce it?

I have always pronounced it as MY-uh. All the Mayas I've known have pronounced it that way. I've never heard anyone say MAY-uh.

I've always said it My-uh. I've never personally met a Maya, but there's a character on a TV show with the name Maya and she pronounces it the same way I do.

The logical part of my brain had be pronouncing this (and Maia) as MAY-ah for as long as I can remember.
But then I heard the name MY-ah and really liked it so wanted to know how it could be spelt. I have to admit, being told Maya and Maia confused me a little, but now I've trained myself to see Maya and hear MY-ah in my head.

I say My-uh

I automatically say "may-uh" but I've known 2 Mayas, one pronounced each way. I quite like either pronunciation but I do feel like "my-uh" should be spelled Maia or Maja.

I say My-uh, because that's how the one Maya I've met pronounced it, and I've heard it on TV that way (plus, it just seems intuitive because it looks like Mayan). I've never heard anyone pronounce it May-a.

I have never heard Maya pronounced "May-a," but I suppose I also don't think I've met any "My-uhs" who spell it that way. I know a Maia and a Maiya. I'd definitely say "My-uh" and would expect that's how it's said.

My-uh is all I've ever heard it pronounced as. My all-time favorite name! (May-a is pretty, too, though.)

I say it like My-uh. I don't know anyone names Maya, but I've heard George Lopez talking about his daughter (her name is Maya), and he also pronounces it My-uh.
